Genesis 4 – The First Conflict
Reading & Study Guide
Opening Scripture — Genesis 4:7 (KJV)
“…sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.”
Teaching
Sin spreads quickly.
Cain and Abel both brought offerings—but only Abel’s was accepted. Cain’s anger grew, and instead of mastering it, he gave in.
The result was the first murder.
God warned Cain before he acted, showing that sin can be resisted. But Cain chose otherwise.
This chapter reveals how unchecked sin leads to destruction—not just for the individual, but for others.
Key Truth
Sin must be mastered before it masters you.
Life Application
What emotions are you allowing to grow unchecked?
